Short Team Description:
Birmingham Autonomous Robot Club (BARC) was established five years ago in the School of Computer Science at the University of Birmingham. The main purpose was to provide an extra opportunity for students to gain additional knowledge about robotics and to work on real robotic platforms and projects. Students were familiarising themselves with the Robot Operating System (ROS) by using a variety of ROS libraries and packages. This year, the BARC structure was changed in order to incorporate the lessons learned and to allow the team to take part in a robotics competition. We have joined the RoCKIn@home 2014 competition because it provides an interesting challenge and will help with progressing research and developing applications for domestic and industrial robots.
